The high school my kids go to, Pius X, is included on the Cardinal Newman Society’s 2014 Schools of Excellence. “Honor Roll schools receiving this designation are marked by the integration of Catholic identity throughout all aspects of their programs and excellence in academics.”

Benedictine College is the last college in the US that requires the freshman to wear beanies their first week of school. Pretty neat. Melanie is in the video at about 1:30.
This fall I will have three kids in college. My first thought is “I’m not old enough to have three kids in college.” Most people think my second thought would be “How can I afford to have three kids in college?” but they are wrong my second thought is “Really? I’m not old enough to have three kids in college.”
I am indeed old enough to have three kids in college. After all, I’m half way trough my 40’s and it has been more than 25 years since I graduated from high school. My oldest child recently celebrated her 21st birthday. I am fully aware of all of this, the thing I don’t understand is when did all of this happen? I have to the tendency to say “A while back” when I talk about things. When I stop and think for a moment, “a while back” sometimes turns out to be 5, 10, 20 years ago. When did all this time go by?
As for the how do we afford three kids in college, a topic for a different post.
Above is the usual response when someone finds out that I have nine children. Sometime I get very positive responses and occasionally borderline, if not outright, offensive responses, mostly though, just disbelief then a question about my awareness of human reproduction. I have a few pat responses that I use, depending on the person and their comment, but I never try to explain. People who are incredulous don’t want or care about why.
So, I have been working in my free time on a couple of other web sites. While I have been working on those I would stop by here just to keep everything up to date, but not to write any new posts. I have had ideas about things I could write about but I haven’t done it. Just now I logged in to update some plugins and realized that it has been a year and a half since I wrote that maybe this is back from the dead. Not so much I guess.
I do plan on reviving this, although at this point I am the only visitor. I do have some ideas for things to write about, I just need to sit down and do it. Hopefully this time is the real deal and this blog is alive again.
