Driver Courtesy

Is there such a thing as driver courtesy anymore? Some of the stupid things I see amaze me.

I live on a dead end street off of a pretty busy street. Not only that but there is a stop light not even a half a block from the intersection. There is a big sign just before my street stating “DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION”. Does it matter? Nope. It never fails, I am sitting at the end of my street waiting for traffic, the stop light to my right turns red, traffic comes to a stop and an inconsiderate driver stops directly in front of me, blocking me in. Is it that hard to stop ten feet earlier? Will the ten seconds it takes to let me out make you late? Did you not see me sitting there in the giant blue van? I can tell they know they are blocking me in because they won’t look over at me. I try not to get upset about it but it is hard when it happens to me nearly every day.

There are other things that  bother me. Don’t people know that  at a red light or stop sign you should stop your car BEFORE the crosswalk? Did you know that it doesn’t matter if you enter the intersection when the light is yellow, if you are not out of the intersection before it turns red you just ran a red light. It is illegal to change lanes in an intersection. When you drive up to gas pumps you should pull up to the the farthest available pump not the first one you see.

It isn’t hard to be considerate. It doesn’t take any more time to be courteous to other drivers. It it easy to follow the rules of the road.
